New businesses expand health, wellness and financial services in the neighborhood.
Planet Fitness and Hawaiʻi Federal Credit Union are joining ʻŌlauniu at Kapālama Kai, adding new health, wellness and financial services as Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha continues to welcome businesses that serve the Kapālama Kai community.
Planet Fitness will open a roughly 16,000-square-foot facility in the former Office Depot space. The addition reflects community feedback gathered by Kamehameha through meetings and surveys from 2018 to 2025, which shared a desire for more fitness options.
Hawaiʻi Federal Credit Union will also join the center, providing convenient banking services and opportunities for financial education for the surrounding community.
Together, these tenants join a growing mix of businesses planned for ʻŌlauniu, following the addition of Foodland as an anchor at the center.
The announcement comes as the transformative redevelopment reaches another milestone. Designed to improve traffic flow and to enhance circulation, safety and walkability, Kamehameha opened a newly renovated portion of the parking lot, fronting the future Planet Fitness. Place-based artwork is also being added to the center, reflecting the stories of Kapālama.
ʻŌlauniu will feature retail, dining, gathering areas and office space designed to foster collaboration, culture and innovation. Additional tenant announcements and project updates will be shared as they become available.
