Kapālama Kai Spreads Holiday Cheer at 75th Annual KBA Holiday Parade

This year’s Black Friday marked a special milestone for the Kalihi Business Association (KBA) Holiday Parade. The 75th anniversary of this beloved community event brought together Kalihi-Kapālama organizations, families and friends for an evening of holiday cheer. Once again, Kamehameha Schools proudly sponsored this year’s parade.

The festivities kicked off as the sun set at Kalihi Union Church, where families and spectators gathered to witness the opening of the parade. Participants, including Kamehameha Schools’ Kapālama Kai team members, their ‘ohana and Kamehameha Schools Kapālama cheerleaders, merrily marched down North King Street, greeting the crowd and passing out fun giveaway items. This year’s route wound through the Kapālama Kai neighborhood — a part of the ‘āina stewarded by Kamehameha Schools in this ahupua‘a — before concluding at Kamehameha Shopping Center.

The parade served as a beautiful reflection of the spirit that makes Kalihi-Kapālama such a special place. From the festively decorated cars to the smiling faces along the route, this joyful tradition brightens the community every year with the spirit of the season.

From all of us at Kapālama Kai, i mau lā nui hauʻoli nou! We are excited for the new year ahead and all that is to come for our kaiāulu.
