Our transformative redevelopment of the former Dillingham Plaza and nearby ʻāina is making steady progress in this new year, and we are excited to share several updates with you.
First, we are beginning the process to welcome Costco Gas to ʻŌlauniu. This new station expands Costco’s services, giving those living, working in and visiting Kapālama Kai a convenient, affordable option to fuel their vehicles in addition to the Iwilei location. The proposed site will be located on a parcel between Colburn Street and Dillingham Boulevard in Kapālama Kai. Together, we plan to connect with the community during the permitting process.
Costco Gas at ʻŌlauniu is more than a fueling station—it’s part of a larger transformation that supports Kapālama Kai as a hub of connectivity by integrating efficient traffic design and improved circulation. Have questions? Visit the FAQs page on our website.
Additionally, renovations continue to make way for ʻŌlauniu. Amid ongoing construction, parking and access to Foodland remain available for the community off of Colburn Street. Construction will shift to other portions of ʻŌlauniu in the spring, so stay tuned to www.olauniu.com for the latest updates.
Finally, we are grateful to Office Depot for their long-standing partnership and service in the Kapālama Kai community. Office Depot has decided to consolidate its operations in Hawaiʻi to another location, and the store here in Kapālama Kai has closed. This transition aligns with the next phase of construction for ʻŌlauniu. Leasing opportunities are still available at ʻŌlauniu.
This article was updated on March 5, 2026 to reflect that Office Depot has closed to the public.
